The issue lies in Western Digital hard drives. Western Digital manufactures both "desktop" and "Enterprise" editions of hard drives. The different types of hard drives are designed to work specifically in either a desktop computer environment or on a RAID controller. If you would like to use a Western Digital hard drive in the RAID system, it is highly recommended to use the "Enterprise" edition. If a "Desktop" edition hard drive is installed into the RAID system, the drive may not work correctly.
